Anwar El-Sadat (President of the Reform and Development Party) excused himself from accepting the invitation of the President and the Vice President to attend the second dialogue session to be held Tuesday afternoon for discussing the controversial constitution articles that need to be amended so they can be counted and submitted to the new parliament once it is convened for appropriate adjustments according to what the political and national powers see.
This session will also include agreeing on the 90 nominees who will be chosen and appointment by the President for the Shura Council according to the Constitutional Declaration due to the important role of the Shura Council in carrying out the legislations until the parliamentary elections are done.
El-Sadat noted that while he understands the keenness of the President on implementing the demands of the national powers to amend the controversial articles yet he has to excuse himself from the session because what the President is calling for today was the requirement of the national forces all along and it should have been done before the referendum on the constitution to reach a consensual agreement and to avoid the split between the supporters and opponents till the institutions are rebuilt and till Egypt can pass through the democratic transition.
El-Sadat added that even though he excused himself from going, he sent to the presidency the material containing the articles he wishes to modify because he believes in the principle of dialogue and its importance in resolving the current crisis and reuniting the Egyptians.
