El Sadat: The President Broke His Promise And His Call For Dialogue About The Constitution is Totally Wrong And Fishy

Anwar El-Sadat (Member of the Constituent Assembly) criticized President Muhammad's Morsi's invitation for the political and national powers to meet with him today for reaching an agreement about the articles disputed with the Islamic currents in the new constitution. He considered this an unjustified interference in the work of the constituent assembly which is supposed to have a president and elected members of its own who are the only ones concerned with such issues.
El-Sadat confirmed that President Morsi broke his promise of not interfering in the work of the assembly and he rejected the presidency's excuse of attempting to combine all view assuming their good intentions. He pointed out the need to give the assembly full independence to ward off any suspicions and also because the members of the assembly are able to solve their problems without the need for any interventions from the president.
El-Sadat added that if the president was after a consensus, then he should discuss this compatibility with the members of his party. Also, if he was after reunion and reconciliation then this is something understood and respected but to invite the political and national powers to sit and talk with him about the constitution this is a totally wrong and highly doubted call. It makes us unsure of the passage of the constitution in its right path which is supposed to achieve the hopes and aspirations of the people.
