El-Sadat requests the presence of the army in the vicinity of Mary Girgis Church in order to prevent the renewed clashes

Anwar El-Sadat (Head of the Reform and Development Party) requested the presences of the Egyptian armed forces to secure the Church of Mary Girgis in Al-Khusus city due to the renewed clashes in its vicinity from time to time, and to prevent the escalation of violence in this area until tension subsides between the Muslims and Christians after the deaths and injured incurred in both camps.

El-Sadat also called for the continuation of the Azhar and the Church's efforts to end the sedition and calm the situation. He stressed the need for developing immediate legislations and laws affirming the right of citizenship, non-discrimination and equal opportunities. He also assured on the need to clam the Christians through positive messages and actions confirming to them that they are partners in the homeland and history and that the relationship between them and the Muslims is a deep relation based on love and tolerance and that no one can succeed in corrupting this relation whatever happens.

El-Sadat blamed the state for this situation, due to their inaction and failure to take serious actions and decisions on previous sectarian incidents which encouraged many to deliberately stir more sedition since similar cases were closed without detecting the instigators or holding them accountable.
