El-Sadat calls the civil associations' federation for an urgent conference to address the issues of harassing women and forfeiting the rights of children

Anwar El-Sadat (Board member of the General Federation of NGOs) called the Chairman and members of the federation to immediately organize an urgent conference, sponsored by the federation, for all the NGOs concerned with women and children, including some legal advisers, social & psychology research scientists, members of the National Council for Human Rights and those who are interested with child care to look into the phenomenon of sexual harassment and the indignities to which the Egyptian women are being subjected, and the Egyptian children who are not enjoying any of their fair and legitimate rights.

El-Sadat stressed that there is a big drop in the status of women since the revolution along with the attempts to marginalize and weaken her strength and presence in the community. In addition, the government is still not able to protect women or stop the risks which women and girls are being subjected to in the streets of Egypt such as gang harassment that is systematically practiced by organized groups.

All of this presents a clear and explicit violation of the dignity, freedom and humanity of women. It also threatens her physical and psychological integrity at large.

El- Sadat also pointed that the suffering of the children under the age of 18 is considered a violation of the Child Protection Act which is so far still disabled. All of this calls for a pause, a re-examination and providing different and new aid for these children to keep them away from violence and make them a real core for the community-building and the future.
