Anwar El-Sadat, "Head of the Reform and Development Party" requested Dr. Muhammad Morsi

"President of Egypt" to take the necessary measures to protect the Copts of Rafah, after the compulsory eviction operations faced by the Christian families residing in the city of Rafah in North Sinai Governorate, and the intimidation to which both Christians and Muslims are subjected. He stressed the importance of imposing the sovereignty of the state on Sinai before the rule of Hamas or terrorism is enforced on them.

El-Sadat confirmed that what is happening to the Copts in Sinai reveals the disability and deterioration of security and the absence of any serious action to handle the case since the advent of the menacing sectarian publications which were published the past months. He pointed the need to expand the influence of the state and law enforcement before the same thing is repeated in other areas such like Sheikh Zuweid or Arish.

El-Sadat stressed on the need for openness, frankness, transparency and broadcasting tranquility messages to all the Egyptians, considering any laxity in dealing with the displacement of the Copts as explicit evidence to the state's failure in its influence on Sinai, and that it could be on its way to the rule of armed terrorist groups, rather that Egyptian sovereignty.
