El-Sadat on Britain's Referendum: Peoples' will and opinion are respected

Mr. Anwar El-Sadat, Chairperson of the Parliamentary Human Rights Committee commends the referendum made by Britain. The result of the referendum is that Britain should leave the European Union. However, Britain has been a member at the EU for long decades. The percentage of voting in that historic referendum is 51.9% against 48.1%.

El-Sadat highlights that the referendum reflects the full respect given to the people's will. When decisive decisions are to be taken, the only say is that of the people. Britain should be a role model when democracy is pursued.

El-Sadat clarifies that in Egypt the Problem of Tiran and Sanafir is as critical as the EU issue with some differences. Can we in Egypt depend on the people's will as the decisive judgment and apply democracy as it has to be in compliance with the rule o law and constitution or the gap between the people and the state will be wide.
