Parliament Member/ Mr. Mohamad Anwar Sadat, Head of Parliamentary Committee for Human Rights calls Mr. Ambassador/ Sameh Shukry, Minister of Foreign Affairs to endorse the Protocol on incorporating the African Court for Human Rights and Peoples. This Court is one of the most important regional mechanisms for protecting human rights in the region. The court may enhance the relation between Egypt and other African countries on many levels.
El-Sadat stresses the importance of fulfilling the Egyptian international and/ or regional obligations. This could only be attained through commitment to submitting regular reports on implementation and follow-up of the African Declaration for Human Rights and Peoples. Last report submitted by Egypt was in 2004 which means Egypt is late in submitting the reports up till now. This may affect the Egyptian international image in the field of enhancing human rights.
