El-Sadat to Minister of Higher Education: Cease tracking and depressing Students

Mr. Anwar El-Sadat, Head of Reform and Development Party (RDP) condemns the procedures taken by the Ministry of Higher Education to cancel the PhD scholarship granted to Ms. Kholoud Saber who is a graduate scholar. The Ministry, upon the refusal of Survey and Information Department, requests her to come back to Egypt despite the fact that her scholarship was approved by a formal decree from her university. Sadat adds that he supports the objection made by dozens of respectful university professors rejecting the unjustifiable act taken against a student taking into consideration that there is no proof of her condemnation yet. Sadat clarifies that this attitude in dealing with the Egyptian youth who has the absolute right to express opinion and peacefully and legally object will aggravate the state of depression they suffer from and will have grave negative effects. Sadat highlights that the Minster has already trespassed the limits by disregarding the students' will in choosing who represents them in Student Unions and by not approving the student results for doubting their political beliefs. It is noteworthy that the students nominated for Student Unions worked hard to gain their colleagues' trust and they abide by the democratic rules and procedures that we work hard so as to achieve and enable students from practicing it.

We should cease such absurd acts and stop depressing the youth as we all share the same love to our country and even if we disagreed, such disagreement will be for our beloved country.
