El-Sadat Calls For Ending the Systematic Attack Led by the Minister of Culture on the Leaders and Institutions of the Ministry

Anwar El Sadat, Chairman of the Reform and Development Party, demanded the Prime Minister Dr. Hesham Qandil to end the unjustified systematic onslaught led by the Minister of Culture Dr. Alaa Abdel Aziz, on the major cultural institutions like the Books Public Authority, the Fine Arts sector, the Academy of Arts and the Opera House beside removing some leaders and high-caliber personages with such an outstanding, respected and esteemed leverage and cultural history.

El-Sadat confirmed that the Egyptian pioneers of enlightenment in the fields of art, acting, directing, music and theater must be revered and made use of as far as their views, ideas and wide experiences rather than being marginalized. Is it not enough the suffering that the media people have to go through! Names such as Farouk Shousha, Ahmad Abdel Muti Hijazi, Khaled Yusuf, Ahmad Mujahid, Sameh Mehran, Inas Abdel Dayem, Omar Khairat and others have provided the Ministry of Culture and the Egyptians, all over the years and decades, with a huge output of cultural and artistic knowledge and for this they deserve all our respect and appreciation.

El-Sadat denounced what happened in the Cultural Committee of the Shura Council which recommended banning the ballet from the Opera House, and he pointed out that it has never happened before that a minister intervened in that flagrant way in the work of the committees causing the dismay and anger of all the Egyptians.
