Anwar El-Sadat (Reform and Development Party President and member of the Constituent Assembly) demanded the enactment of a deterring legislation against custom-made religious rulings and quasi-religious scholars that have violated all sanctities starting with apostasy accusations and ending with defaming creativity. These quasi-scholars have been issuing "fatwas"-religious legislations- in each and every arena without any regulation or governing criteria.
El-Sadat stressed the necessity of prosecuting the "Sheikhs" -clergies- that appear on satellite television, disseminating misleading "fatwas ". Those Sheikhs were motivated by the society's need & receptiveness to the "fatwas market", not to mention these Sheikhs' aspiration for fame & media stardom.
They disseminate "fatwas" that are not necessarily based on knowledge, causing a state of confusion and disorder in the minds of many Egyptians. El Sadat pointed out that the seekers who got affected by the "incorrect fatwas" should demand justice, prosecute those spreading random fatwas and enact deterring legislations in order for this fatwa-clutter-farce ends in the Egyptian society.
