FES Mediterranean Dialogue about the problems of migrants

German Foundation; Friedrich Ebert established a workshop on Thursday evening, at Marriott Hotel in Cairo to extend the results of the Forum which was held in Berlin at the end of the previous June.

During the aforementioned forum Egypt was represented by Anwar Esmat Al-Sadat, Founders Representative of RDP, and Abul Makarem Ahmed Abul Makarem, a member of People's Assembly, the forum was on the problems of the illegal immigration, immigrant's conditions and the Egyptian employment abroad, particularly in Europe.

The meeting addressed some of the most important points which were raised during Berlin Conference; it was mainly about the variation in different cultures and customs as well as the traditions of Egyptian and Arab immigrants, thing which causes the lack of harmonization with the European Communities.

In addition to the lack of Arab countries to experts and specialists who lost their belonging to their homelands due to poor communication with the embassies plus the failure of the media, cultural and diplomats representatives in their roles as said by the Forum's participants.

The participants emphasized on the complexity of the problem of illegal immigrants a result of the poor economical and political conditions in their homelands, in addition to the weakness of the atmosphere of freedoms in the countries of North Africa.
