El Sadat Calls on Signatories and Participants of the Tiran and Sanafir Agreement to Resign

Parliamentarian and President of the Reform and Development Party, Anwar El Sadat, has called on everyone who signed and participated in the Tiran and Sanafir agreement to immediately and voluntarily submit their resignations in respect of the High Administrative Court decision, which annulled the agreement with Saudi Arabia and proved Egypt's sovereignty over the two islands and was met with popular celebrations.

El Sadat clarified that the resignation of former British Foreign Minister, David Cameron, in respect of the will of the people after Brexit is a fine example that should be followed by the Egyptian government. Especially when the Court decision stated that the government failed to submit any documents to support its stance in the case.

El Sadat also demanded the release of all those who were detained after protesting the agreement, in light of the Court decision supporting their position. He called on the government to stop challenging the will of the people by filing court cases before the Constitutional Court, confirming that it is better for the government to start a dialogue with our Saudi brothers to reach an understanding not only to prevent any anticipated repercussions after the court decision but also to maintain good historical relations between the two states.
