Parliamentarian Mohamed Anwar El Sadat, president of the Reform and Development Party, submitted a request to the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Dr. Ali Abdel Al, to hold an urgent session to question Prime Minister, Sherif Ismail, on the government's continuation of enforcing the Civil Service law, which was vastly rejected by Parliament members. El Sadat stated that this is considered not only a legal scandal but rather a dangerous constitutional violation that affects the status of the legislative authority, i.e. the House of Representatives and shatters the concept of independent state powers, which we are all fighting for. He added that this sends a clear message to Egyptians and observers alike that nothing has changed and that elected parliamentarians and their decisions, reflecting of the will of the people that voted for them, are worthless.
El Sadat's request came after repeated statements by some Cabinet Ministers of continuing to spend salaries and hiring incoming employees to fill current vacancies, under the articles of the Civil Service law that was rejected by the House of Representatives.
