Breaking up the protests was filmed and documented so that the whole world can witness that their sit- ins, which included weapons and ammunition, are far from being peaceful and makes serious violations against social peace , churches and national security.
Mr.Anwar El Sadat, Chairman of the Reform and Development Party, stressed that breaking up the sit-ins at Rabea al-Adaweya Mosque and Nahda Square was necessary after the fact that the sit-ins and rallies of the supporters of former President / Mohamd Morsi lacked the minimum standards of peacefulness and the internationally - recognized right to demonstrate, as well as their incitement to continued violence which has become a major threat to social peace and national security.
Sadat indicated that the army and the police have used graded methods with the supporters of Morsi to end their sit-ins themselves and go home peacefully, clearly indicating that the state was not interested in using force against the protesters. But the Brotherhood did not respond to any rational calls, last of which was Al-Azhar's recent initiative for a peaceful solution.
Sadat explained that breaking up the protests was filmed and documented so that the whole world can witness that their sit- ins, which included weapons and ammunition, are far from being peaceful. He noted that all methodological and internationally recognized ways were used in the process of breaking up the sit-ins. He argued that ending the protests does not mean the state aims to exclude the Muslim Brotherhood and drive them out of the political scene, but the door is open to for them to obey the popular will and participate with us in building our country without any arbitrariness, crackdowns nor political arrests but by the law.
Sadat noted that it is expected that there will be aftershocks and negative reactions from the Muslim Brotherhood in response to breaking up their sit-ins but it will be a matter of time. In all cases, the people will stand with the state, which is seeking to maintain its prestige and political system, which in turn plays its role in protecting the citizens from the dangers of the terrorist groups, so that Egypt restores security and safety and the national decision-making returns to the hands of the Egyptians.
