El-Sadat: No need for all the fuddle and muddle about the Associations Law because it depends on the existence of the People's Assembly

Anwar El-Sadat, President of the Reform and Development Party and member of the General Union of NGOs, criticized the frequent statements that are issued by officials on the issuance of the NGOs law without knowing what the law will come out with. This raises much controversy and fear that the law might not be at the level that ensures freedom and independence of civil work.

El-Sadat explained that based on the instructions of President Mohammad Morsi no decree-law for the associations will be issued except in the presence of the new elected parliament. A draft law was already prepared under the supervision of the Human Rights Committee, chaired by El-Sadat, as well as the Social and Religious Affairs Committee, and the Legislative Committee with the approval of all parties and political forces and in the presence of government representatives.

For this reason I assure all the associations and unions and civil society organizations that the law will be issued only in the presence of the Parliament, and what has been done with it will satisfy the hopes and aspirations of all who are in the domain of civil and developmental work.
