El-Sadat demands the Constituent Assembly for a Legislation that Protects Journalists and Satellite Channels

In the wake of the escalating attack on the satellite channels and the media people in every valid or invalid occasion, and after blaming the media for the mistakes of others and charging it unfairly for blowing the events out of proportion, MP Anwar El-Sadat (President of the Reform and Development Party) condemned such irresponsible charges and such confusion that morally attack the satellite channels and media people in a way that infringes the freedom of creativity and expression.

El-Sadat confirmed that the problem lies in the fact that ever since the political Islam groups won their parliamentary majority and their elected president they have been feeling that others are trying to extract this victory from them and are skeptical of their abilities and intentions. There is also the issue of the religious channels and fatwas that bother the Egyptian politicians, artists and innovators from applying the Islamic law and spreading accusations of disbelief.

The ordinary citizen remains the sole loser in all this since he is baffled by his future and hopes and can no longer tell who to believe or trust. The crisis and the escalation persist without any offered solutions.
For this reason El-Sadat demanded the Constituent Assembly today to issue an urgent legislation protecting the satellite channels and media people, and at the same time preventing anyone from attacking them without support or evidence. This legislation should ensure their full legal protection as long as their work is within the framework of being transparent with the people about the truth of what is happening around them.
