The Reform and Development announces its current position from the presidential candidates

In view of the conflicting statements about the presidential candidate who is expected to be supported by the Reform and Development Party, MP Mohamed Anwar El-Sadat (Chairman of the party) confirmed that the party will determine its position only after the Higher Presidential Elections Committee declares its decision from the appeals and grievances and announces officially the shortlist of candidates. This delay, according to the words of El-Sadat, is due to the party's desire to invite the political and national parties/powers for a meeting that aims to have them all agree on a single presidential candidate behind whom all the political powers and movements should stand.

El-Sadat confirmed that in view of manipulating the revolution and the constant scheming to bring back the symbols of the former regime to lead the political scene so as to kill the revolution completely and rack the dreams of many in a transition of genuine democracy, social justice and the rule of law, we must all stand together to protect our revolution and this will not come except by the consensus of all the political and national powers as well as the public figures on nominating a national figure who represents the majority of Egyptian people; Muslims and Christians without expressing a specific faction or having loyalty to a particular political stream. This has to be based on abstract legal grounds that show no injustice or victimization of anyone, otherwise everything that the revolution called for will vanish into thin air.
