El-Sadat: Egypt is witnessing a real democratic bridal and we must strive to complement it

Like all other Egyptians, Anwar Esmat El-Sadat -president of the Reform and Development Party- expressed his extreme happiness at the long-awaited democratic bridal that Egypt is witnessing these days, describing the scene of the Egyptians in their first parliamentary elections after the fall of the former Mubarak regime as a scene that has dazzled the world and expressed the awareness of the Egyptian people with their keenness on casting their votes including; the elderly, the sick and those with special needs who all attended in person to vote. It all reflects the patriotism of the Egyptian people and their ability to make a better future with all their vigor and determination.

He thanked the efforts of the police, the army as well as the Higher Elections Commission who have all participated in producing the first phase of elections in this praiseworthy shape.

He further indicated that although there have been violations and infringements yet they were all minor and never mounting to size of the violations that occurred in previous times, still they all need to be taken into consideration for the coming phases.

El-Sadat confirmed that in his tour to inspect some of the polling stations he personally saw that there is still some degree of secular and religious influencing as in the March-19 referendum which lead the secularists and liberals in one way and the Islamic movements in the other highlighting, by this, the influence of the mosque and the church on the orientation of many. Yet, as he thinks, the ballot boxes will be the final judge for everyone and that each and everyone should respect the results whatever they might be as long as they are the will of the people.
