Statement

In response to the news published in "Al Youm El Sabe'/ The Seventh Day" newspaper and its website, in its edition of Tuesday the 17th of March 2009, referring to a cooperation between Reform & Development Party (under construction) with the American Democratic Institute. The RDP in cooperation with several organizations of the Egyptian, German, British and American civil society as well as the cooperation with the Egyptian universities and centers of political studies and research project, seek to train the cadres of the youth through knowledge and genuine political participation, with putting into consideration the traditions and the culture of the Egyptians, thing which is not against the law. At the same level the political parties including the ruling National Democratic Party, human rights organizations and the institutions of press and media cooperate with the said institute, where this institute carries out educational training courses, political workshops without providing anyone with any financial support and we challenge if the contrary could be proven.

We also affirm the role of regulatory and sovereign agencies, which follow the national and political activities in Egypt with full transparency. For the sake of our nation, which is the goal of all of us, these agencies address any deviation of the legal structure for the public act.

I believe that my as well as my brother's, Talaat Al Sadat, history through the crises which we faced during our membership in the Parliament starting by the offers we had to join the National Democratic Party, like many of the independents did in order to have protection, benefits and gratuities then we refused and won for the desire of our simple voters who placed their confidence in us. Even my brother's imprisonment in a case re freedom of opinion and expression, and how I was excluded from the Parliament deliberately then it was confirmed that I am having the right to return back to the parliament and to be compensated for the inconveniences caused. All the aforementioned is the best proof of non-recourse or asking for any interference or assistance for amnesty from any foreign party, in spite of the offers we received but we rejected, considering it an internal affair.

We hope that the editors of this newspaper as well as its chief editor to be accurate whilst publishing the news and not to refer to the symbols of the party, who exerted all efforts in helping the media to perform their role and provide them with information, data and the updates of the party. And to stop the policy of demolition and fishing for problems and the use of words of foreign financial support, which led to the departure and the reluctance of most faithful sons of the nation from engaging themselves in any political participation in order to avoid the accusations of a false and malicious mischief.
